The good kind of fat
Basically every person who has met me, knows that I’m obsessed with avocados. The Easter bunny (aka my mum, but pssst don’t tell the kids) even made an avocado bunny for me this year, instead of a chocolate one. So it just came naturally to me, to share some of my avocado recipes first on this blog!
Besides my personal fascination with this fruit, there are also some other reasons why you should also incorporate them in your diet. Avocado is rich in monounsaturated fats, which will not only help to reduce bad cholesterol levels in your blood and therefore can lower your risk of heart disease and stroke, but also leads to its smooth and creamy texture. They also contain high amounts of essential vitamins and minerals some of which are folate (B9), vitamin K1, potassium, copper, vitamin E, vitamin B6 and vitamin C. The potassium content, which is crucial for cellular and electrical function in the body, in avocados is even higher than the one in bananas. Avocado also has anti-inflammatory properties, because of its vitamin E and K content, which reduces cellular inflammation. Fiber, which plays an essential role in your digestive, heart and also skin health, can also be found in high amounts. These are only some of the many benefits of this incredible fruit. Just make sure that you eat your avocados when they are perfectly ripe, because that is when the nutrients can be absorbed best by your body.
